Popping sounds through speakers after shut down.

Several weeks ago, I started receiving popping sounds, through my speakers, after my PC shutdown and the screen went into inactive mode. While popping, my PC power light flickers in time with the popping sounds. It starts low with quick pops and changes to louder and slower pops. If I remove the power, or turn off the speakers, the pops stop. However, if I don't let the pops stop by them selves and turn off the power, it will then pop during boot.

Months before the popping started, I did upgrade my CPU from 2.8 to 3.4 Pentium 4 and changed my monitor to a Dell 24". Months before that, I upgraded my RAM from 2Ghz to 3Ghz. I also upgraded my graphics card (months before) from a Gforce 6200 to a Gforce 7600.

Again, all of these changes were months before the popping started. My PC seems to run fine, with temperatures in the 40's with the CPU getting into the 50's during heavy graphics useage.

I have read other posts where most say it is probably the Power Supply. If this is most likely the problem, any recommendations, other that the 8.0 bronze (or above) certification?

============== Update 9/8/13 ======================
When turning on my power this morning, I received the same popping sounds, where it was only when turning off the PC before. Seems it happens after the computer turns off, with speakers and monitor still powered, and now when I turn on the power to the speakers and monitor, but haven't pressed the PC power button yet. As soon as I pressed the PC power button, turning on the PC, the popping stopped. Hope this helps?

=========Update 9/9/13================
Moved speakers far from PC, monitor and all related electronics but still popping occured. Unplugged speakers, where sound stopped, however power light kept flickering, indicating electrical impulses still happening. Looked inside, and both CPU fan and graphics card fan twitched in time with popping as is the power light as mentioned above. Other than these fans, saw or smelled nothing else happening inside of PC.

========Update 9/12/13 ===============
Power supply became hotter than usual, along with a burning smell, so figured PSU was going bad. Didn't know if it was the cause of the problems above, however updated my Antec 350W PSU with a new Corsair 750W Modular PSU. After boot-up, no popping either on post or shutdown, so obviously it was the PSU that was causing the problem. This issue can be closed......
