Is windows 8 bad for games?

I have windows 8 on my current laptop and planned on getting it for my gaming computer build but I've heard lots of rumors about how windows 8 is bad for games. As I've never really done any serious gaming on my laptop because it can't run much I wanted to know, is windows 8 really as bad for gaming as everyone says it is?

They are arguably the same for gaming. 8 uses less system resources then 7 and it also falls down to personal preference. The only problem would be that some games can;t run on 8 but can on 7.

No, it's not. Possibly marginally better performance than Win7. Certainly no worse.

The only issue is the interface. Far too many people hate it, without having used it.

I have almost exactly the same frame rates in 8 , that I had in 7.
