I have a Gigabyte motherboard with a PCIe 2.0 slot for my GPU which isn't able to run games very well... can I use this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150605
with it as a replacement? (I'm not the greatest with computer hardware so bare with me)
If it cannot be used, can you recommend a graphics card that I can use that will allow me to actually run games full screen w/o much lag and not on super low settings?

That card should work fine, as long as it fits in your case and your power supply can properly power it(also, you want to check your cpu is capable of properly feeding your new card with data in the games you want to play). A pci-e 3 card is backward compatible with a pcie 2 motherboard. You wouldn't really notice any changes as far a bandwidth differences are concerned.

I've done a little research and thinking.. thank you, by the way, for answering so quickly!
Can you recommend a powerful graphics card that will run with my Corsair CX430 PSU and my AMD FX-6300 Six Core CPU? I'm a little worried about the other one potentially not fitting and possibly running unsafely on my PSU..
