So I recently ran into some problems with a PC I own. Upon starting up my PC I get the BIOs screen then soon after, when the PC tries to boot up, I get a message which goes as follows: "Disk read error has occurred. Press CTRL+ALT+DLT to restart" this led me to believe im having hard drive issues. I therefor tried testing out my hard drive on a different PC I own and the results were similar; not the exact same message but it also said it was unable to boot up. So I'm fairly sure the problem lies in my hard drive. The only thing is I'm not sure how to follow up on this. If you have any insight on how I could go about this, or what the next step I should take, if any, in finding a solution should be. thanks for taking the time to show interest in helping me in advance.

If you have important files/data on the drive, don't use it until you run a file recovery program like Recuva to get the files off the drive.

If the drive is still in warranty (approx. 3 yrs) then you need to run the manufacturer's HDD utility to scan for errors and get an error code. With an error code and the drive's serial # you can apply for an RMA to get the drive replaced under warranty.

Good luck!
