Ok I travel a lot and I take my privacy very seriously. I would like to be able to VPN from my laptop while abroad to my home router I will leave on 24/7 to use its internet (not a pc left on , the router). SSL encryption is absolutely necessary, and the internet dropping on my end due to a VPN disconnect is vital as not to reveal any information about my location/IP. I don’t want to use any website service or use their IP addresses I just want to do everything manually and securely as possible. Any suggestions  ?

Get a business class router with built in VPN server

Most will support PPTP which uses 128bit encryption and is compatible with many devices.

If you want something even more secure, look for a router that supports L2TP/IPsec (bit more complicated to configure) or OpenVPN (easy to configure). These both support strong 256bit encryption.
