Laptop for Around 600

So my brothers girlfriend is in need of a new laptop, and seeing as I am the only one with knowledge on the subject it was tasked to me.
However I know about desktops and not laptops, so I came to the place where I learned most of what I know.
My specific question is:
She needs a laptop for around 600 a little more is ok, It has to have a disk reader and backlit keys are a must. She would prefer a sleeker model with a 15-16 inch non touch screen. Preferably with 8 gigs of memory and 750 to a TB of storage.

IF you increase your budget or decrease the requirement then you can get alot more

She is pretty specific on her budget, I personally think that would be a good laptop but she doesnt like toshibas, especially the satellites. That is everything she needs, but she is extremely picky.

Why does she hate them? That is the only one that fits her 'picky' needs in that budget so shes gonna have to get that, raise her budget or lower the specs

Its alot of heavy school work, with a multitude of programs running at a time etc. She has had MANY bad experiences with toshibas in the past so she just likes to stay away from them.

She needs the 1Tb because she load it with things she will use once and dosent delete them. But that is good for her because she looses things on a daily basis. Her current laptop has 750 and shes used almost all of it. Which is kinda sad. Its pretty good, but we managed to find one with a quad core i7 running at higher speeds with a larger HDD and for the same price.
