Hey,

This is my new build i plan to purchase soon and i need some advice on what i've got here. I'm looking to overclock in the near future once i get hold of some more cash and buy a watercooler and new monitor. I'm looking for some suggestions on optimizing and saving some money with little or no sacrifices. I plan to play only a few games ie Rome2. This is mainly to support multi monitors. So far i will be running this of my 32 inch tv in the corner and doing my work of my laptop.

Your build is quite good, I don't see any room for improvement.

You can also get the Hyper 212 EVO for some minor overclocking, it's a pretty good air-cooler.

If you're considering a CLLC, I'd suggest getting a decent air cooler instead - usually cheaper, quieter, and better cooling. Fully blown custom loops are another matter, but you'll pay.

I was considering the corsair h60i closed loop system for the future
would like to know why you suggested the hd7970 over the 760?

i would like to stick with a better psu for its longevity and the gold cert.
ithe ram is of no concern to me so that a bargain!
as for the ssd i'm not going to the need something that big with the mechanical also the pro series is noticeably faster.

The 7970 is WAY better than the 760.

The h60i will be WAY worse than a good air cooler. Water coolers are for bragging and aren't any better than air. They are just noisy and expensive.

You cannot overclock any better with an h60i than with a coolermaster hyper 212 evo.

ok so water cooling is just a gimmick then? also if the 7970 is 'WAY' better is it worth the extra money? will it make a difference to what i'm using it for? i.e playing rome 2 on a 32'' tv and multi screening?

I have no idea where did you get that information, but you're simply wrong.

Find any good comparison and you'll be able to see that under load good watercoolers manage to get SEVERAL degrees less than any aircooler can.

And noisy? Watercoolers are less noisy than aircoolers...

Now, for the price of a 7970 you can get a GTX 770 which tops off the 7970 in terms of performance.

And yes, Tomshardware did a comparison where a Noctua NH-D14 was compared to an h100i and the Noctua lost by 1 degree. The h100i was something like 3 times as loud.

If you plan to upgrade and use sli get the 760. If not then either a 7970 or 7950 are good choices.

@topic - You can get a 760 now and later on upgrade to SLI. If you want better FPS right off the bat get either a GTX 770 or a 7970.

@tiny voices, it got 5ºC higher in load temperatures

And your claim about noise can be fixed by using simple PWM fans which barely reduce performance
