upgrading current pc $500 budget please help

Hey guys, I have a current rig based around an AMD platform.
The specs are: AMD A8-5500 QUAD CORE(3.2/3.7GHZ TURBO)

8gb ddr3 memory

1tb hdd

amd 7350 graphics

amd a75 chipset

220w psu

My question is that I have 500 dollars, give or take 50 dollars extra to spend on upgrades.. I usually play games like BF3/minecraft and record.

So, with the 500 dollars, what would you spend the upgrades on? What gpu? What psu? etc? Any help would be great

PLEASE REPLY IM DESPERATE.

thanks in advance,

terrence

  1. Think about this scenario, change your platform to Intel which will boost your performance.

Use your RAM, Case and DVD:

    CPU:

    Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core $179
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116782

    Motherbord:

    MSI ZH77A-G43 LGA 1155 Intel H77 $84
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130674

    PSU:

EVGA 600B 100-B1-0600-KR 600W ATX12V $64 (new PSU to market but EVGA is quality builder)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438014

    GPU:

    MSI R7870-2GD5T/OC Radeon HD 7870 GHz $204
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127722

    Total $531

That is a little over your $500 budget but those new pieces will bring your gaming experience to a new level compared to what you have.

    hi, thanks for your reply,

wouldn't my amd processor be just as good, if not better? It is a quad core, and has a higher clock speed?

No, not even close, that is a $98 CPU with APU graphics. That Intel CPU I linked will run circles around that AMD chip in games. You would see a world of difference in your gaming performance. That APU is not built for gaming. That is built for light gaming at best. The Intel CPU is for gaming.
