I recently bought this PC used for a cheap gaming PC. The stock PSU is only a 460w unit and is not enough to run the video card i want. The computer has a first Gen i7, 1 tb hard drive and 12 gigs of ram. The video card i want is the GeForce GTX 660 Ti.

If I were you I would invest a good PSU that will support that GPU. Do not risk your investment with a stock Dell PSU, they are cheap PSU's that could risk your system and investment in a good GPU

Buy the GPU and one of these PSUs:

CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 600W $69

Rosewill CAPSTONE-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS GOLD $79

EVGA 600B 100-B1-0600-KR 600W ATX12V $64

Watts on the psu are not the question/answer. Look at the side of the psu and see how many amps are available on the 12v rail(s). I would guess it is a dual rail unit with one 16a and one 18a rail. A 660 ti is a 225w tdp or there abouts and that means it will need close to 30a. Even if you use a 6 pin from each rail, you going to be short of power at the end of the day. Also, Dell OEM psu's are not known for their quality - lowest bidder like the government.

If it was me, I'd look for a quality psu from corsair (HX or TX), seasonic, xfx or antec in the 600w range with 45a or more on the rail(s).
