Ok to replace PSU with lower wattage

My Dell XPS 400's PSU died yesterday (the Dell part no. is WM283). It was a 375w PSU.

This is a rent weekend so all I had in my wallet was around $40. I went down to the ONLY computer store around here and the only thing he had to offer was a 350w Athena Power "Apollo 350 Micro SFX", for my budget. The sales rep (who looked 12 to me) said that the power supply WOULD work, it just wouldn't fit in my case and that I should not play any "intense games" until I get an identical or a better PSU.

Having no choice I went ahead and bought it. Installed it, and it is working... But is this safe? I don't want this Mickey Mouse fix to break my MB or even worse my HDD. It will be at least two weeks before I can afford the insanely overpriced Dell replacement. Buying used parts is out of the question, I have never done it nor am I about to start.

Where I live I pretty much have to order all my parts online. I would rather have to wait a few days for shipping rather than risk my system with a low quality power supply.

Thanks for the fast replies. But, my question is How Safe is it to keep using this lesser Wattage PSU until I buy the exact replacement?

That was the only PSU I could afford that was over 300W. I may go look around tomorrow at the second nearest electronics store but it's a Radio Shack, I don't even know if they sell PC parts. I live in the Mountains, no joke.
