Not going to lie, if u get the student discount on the brand new alienware m14xr3 and then choose the upgraded graphics option, a 765m and 4700 series i7 sounds great too me. Plus the lighting system is supreme, the keyboard is standard(Or so i am lead to believe alienware is the last to have the standard, non-chiclet laptops...the r2 was...), and furthermore the new airflow system in the m14x is FANtastic...no really though, its ice cold compared to its predecessors. Oh and also 1080p is doable within your 1500$ budget, and also be sure to upgrade ur wireless ot the bigfoot killer wireless option, it really is worth it imho.

Also so you know, NO, and i mean NO gaming laptop has a 3 hour battery life under full stress. I mean...

Just my two cents. The next comment will probably be about how lenovo gives you the most bang for your buck and then something about the build quality of alienwares from someone who has never owned one (I currently own alienware, msi, lenovo, and an origin laptop.....so i do have first person experiance and my choice would still be what i have said here....

I don't think the student discount is very much and yes it is better, but much heavier and more expensive.
