Please help it has valuable work on it!

The HDD is most likely not receiving enough power from the USB port.

This may be able to be fixed by using a powered USB hub or plugging the USB to SATA/IDE cable into a high-power USB port.

Hi, when I connect I am also using a power supply, would that make any difference?

Do you mean a computer power supply with a SATA Power Connector plugged into the drive? If so, it should help give the drive the power it needs.
Hopefully you can get your drive working again!

You could also just open your computer and connect internally, it should move data faster too. But the clicking noise is it constant? like the headers are stuck or banging against something? I get the feeling that its too late to save. IF the noise is intermittent you might still be able to save some stuff.

It makes the clicking noise then just goes off, so computer doesn't pick it up.
