Hi All,
yesterday I assembled my brand new computer. The mobo is an ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO.

I have this issue:
when I power on, after the PSU has been disconnected from the AC, my pc starts for 5 seconds, it shuts down itself then it reboots and finally starts up showing me the message "Press F1 to Enter SETUP To Recover BIOS Setting".

I tried to update the bios without results.

It could be a BIOS battery issue, but it sounds strange the reboot before the stable start up.

If I don't disconnect the PSU from AC everything works.

This evening I'll try to replace the BIOS battery.
Do you have any others suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

No my asus board does that too when I update the bios or clearing the cmos. The f1 message does it say anything else? like fan speed below 600rpm or something? It's likely a false positive. YOu can set it to ignore or just lower the error setting to 300rpm or something it the monitor settings in bios.

I can't remember anything else said by the message.
If it's a fan problem, could be my corsair liquid cooler the cause?

Anyway when I will be at home I'll let you know if your fix works.

Thanks for your response.

Update:
The problem is still there.
Changed the bios battery - didn't work.
Set to ignore all fans control - didn't work.
Cleared cmos by the mobo bumper - didn't work.

I've noticed that the last code that I can see on mobo before it shuts down is 79 (csm initialization). Do somebody knows what it could means?

My next step is to remove one by one all of the not useful components and hope to get some better result.

Any suggestion is appreciated!
Thanks

My configuration is:
Mobo: Asus Maximus VI Hero
PSU: OCZ ZX850W
RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE 16GB(2x8GB) 1866MhZ
CPU: Intel i5-4670k
GPU: Asus Nvidia GTX 590

Yesterday night I removed all extra components, just ran with psu, mobo, cpu & cpu cooler, 1 RAM stick.
Nothing changed!

I start supposing that I got some bad component.

The strange thing is that if I don't disconnect the PSU from AC everything works perfectly.
It seems like bios can't keep memorized for some reason :-(

In the next days I'll try with psu and ram of a friend.
Hope this helps to find the bad component.

I don't have it right now. Next week I'll have a PSU and a RAM from a friend. Anyway, if would be a RAM problem, shouldn't restart everytime? Why it works if I leave the PSU switcher on? Probably is a PSU defect. Is it possible that it gives a "pick of tension" to the MoBo?
