Minecraft FPS drops

Hi: I've had this problem for quite a while, and after trying everything I know, everything I could find on Google and everything I could find here, I decided to make a new post.

The problem:
Around 30 seconds after I start Minecraft, the FPS count drops from around 100 to 1-2. I don't have to tell you that this makes the game completely unplayable. After a few seconds it goes back to 100. Then, the drops occur more and more frequently, and after a couple of minutes there is no space between them.
This issue only occours when I'm playing MC, but when it occours it also seems to affect YouTube (among other things), for example, if I have a video playing while playing Minecraft, the video also suffers from the same problem.
Not only the game itself suffers, but also menu elements.
Once, the screen went black, MC closed and I got an error message from NVIDIA with the error code 3. This seems to be some sort of OpenGL issue.
I've noticed that when the FPS goes down, the number of chunk updates also goes down.
What I've tried:
Deleting the .minecraft folder and using a fresh installation of MC.
Reinstalling Windows.
Updating my graphics card drivers (see info).
Adding more ram, up to 8G
Setting all the video options to low.
I've probably forgotten a ton of stuff.
