Im building a gaming computer for the first time and was just wondering if there is any difference between getting 2 sticks of 4Gb memory or getting 1 stick of 8Gb? (Getting kingston hyperx blue if that helps)
Thanks :)

depends on the board. everything is getting smaller. now if you plan on running 4dimms you need to pay special attention to make sure they do actually have the slots available. .

agree / run 2 dimms.

Two modules running in dual channel mode will be faster.

You may prefer the 1x8GB because it leaves more RAM slots open for future additions. (although most motherboards these days have 4 slots anyway)

2x4GB will give you significantly better performance. Also when upgrading RAM it is generally not advised to just add more sticks because there is no guarantee of compatibility. It is recommended to buy a whole new kit because they are guaranteed to work together (besides a defect that gets through QA obviously).
