Here is what you should do:

1. Back up any files you still need that are on that disk;
2. Restart the computer, enter BIOS setup (usually by pressing DEL);
3. Go to boot configuration and make sure the 1st boot device is your optical drive (DVD/BD);
4. Insert your Windows XP install disk;
5. If you are prompted to "press any key to launch setup", do so.
6. During setup, choose the hard drive with windows 7 as your new system drive. There will be an option to partition and format the drive, do so;
7. Finish the setup and you are ready to go.
