I've just bought a Dell U2312hm and unfortunately there's 2 things wrong with it.

1) It has some backlight bleeding:

2) It isn't centered. On the right and top side of the screen you can see 2 black bars that shouldn't be there. On the left side you can only see a tiny strip and pretty much nothing on the bottem. See:

Is there a way to fix this centering issue? Because i'm using a DVI-D connection my auto adjust and horizontal/vertical positioning options are greyed out. I tried using the graphicscards options but that didn't do much and neither did resetting to factory settings.

Do I have a bad screen? I'm thinking of returning it but I hesitant to go through the hassle. I like the colors, size and adjustability of the screen, but these 2 things prevent me from truely enjoying it.

This is a good idea. If it doesn't work you can also try adjusting the positioning of the screen through the menu built into the monitor.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about the backlight bleeding. If that really bothers you then, combined with your other problem, I would say your best bet is definitely to return it.

There are a few things that could be wrong: first, try replacing your DVI-D cable. IF that doesn't fix the problem: try a VGA cable and use the auto-adjustment function and check for results. If problems continue, try to update your monitor's firmware. The last option would be trying it on a different computer, you might have an issue with your graphic card's video output. If that and anything else that you could do fails, replace it.

What kind of graphics card are you using? Nvidia just released some drivers that addressed problems with that specific monitor. if you have an Nvidia card, try finding another monitor from a friend and update your drivers.
