Recently I've noticed that whenever my computer is at idle (or pretty close to idle) I get a bunch of graphical tears and glitches, sometimes resulting in my display becoming completely black while the computer is still on or graphics card driver crashes. Once I put load on the GPU though none of this happens. I have installed the latest catalyst drivers for the card to no avail.

I have searched around and I couldnt really find anything that helps me out..

I have no overclocking and my specs are as follows:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
Processor: AMD FX-8350 4Ghz
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1866
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB
Power Supply: 600 Watt (Generic brand? not sure)
And with a 2TB 7200rpm HDD

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Initially i was suspecting the gpu. 7870 early batch have screen going blank though it seems only several Sapphire early batch was affected. It was last minute problem found by amd and in Sapphire case they already shipping some of their card before the were aware of the problem. Since the there are chances the problem will not affecting the card at all they just sell the card and will handle RMA accordingly if problem really occur on customer end. Other manufacturer have confirm they did apply the fix before shipping their first batch though i'm not sure if power color did theirs.

Its a Power Color HD 7870. However I think it's a driver issue now, I moved it to the other pci-e slot and windows installed new drivers as if it wasn't the same card and the issue is gone...

It was either the slot or the drivers. Either way it seems to be fixed for now. I wonder why it was behaving under load but not idle if it was the slot though.
