I'm trying to work out which would be the best option for my new server which will run KVM Linux and the guests will mainly be Linux Boxes (CentOS) and the majority of them will be basic LAMP stacks although that's not always the case could be running other things.
Which would be more performant
Have 2 x E5620s or a single E3-1230v2.
The E5 has more l3 cache and more memory throughput (?) however the E3 has a much higher clock speed.
I'm after whichever will be quicker to the VMS but also keeping in mind there could be a few VMs.
Which ever option I go with there will be 32GB RAM in the machine and 4 x 2TB Drives in RAID 10.
