I upgraded some of my hardware this weekend - I went from a Core i7-860 and a Gigabyte P55A mobo to a Core i7-3770K and a Gigabyte Z77X mobo - and did a fresh Windows install (note: changed from Win7 Pro 64 to Win7 Enterprise 64). Now one of my non-OS drives isn't being recognized.
I use three drives in the system:
-Corsair SSD (OS)
-450 GB WD VelociRaptor (Games)
-2 TB WD Caviar Green (Media)
The 2 TB Drive is the one I'm having problems with. The OS drive and my games drive are both working properly.
The drive is not properly recognized when plugged into the motherboard. It's listed as unknown and not initialized in Disk Management. Also, when I go to initialize the disk through DM, I get an error message: The system cannot find the file specified. Even stranger: when I put the drive in an external dock (Thermaltake BlacX) and connect it via USB, the drive is recognized, and I can access all the files on it without a problem.
I've already backed this drive up to another external, so there's no data loss risk here, but I would like to get this drive working without reformatting. Any ideas?
Full system specs: Intel Core i7-3770K, CM EVO 212, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4-TH mobo, eVGA GTX 780, Kingston 16 GB DDR3-2133 RAM, 128 Corsair SSD (OS), 450 VelociRaptor (Games), 2 TB WD Green (media), 1250W OCZ PSU.
Fixes tried: Tried a few different SATA cables; Made sure the drive was not plugged into the SATA II #5 port (which is shared with the empty mSATA port on the board.
