lol, sorry about the false hopes and empty promises of free beer. I needed to lure people in here :)

Hi, Great site and great people here. Been reading a lot of stuff here the last month or so, trying to research my very first build. Here's my thought so far:

Samsung Electronics MZ-7PD128BW 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 128GB SATA 6Gbps ($137, I want to 6Gbs per sec and I'll add some 7200 HDD I have laying around)

Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W ($195)

NZXT Phantom 410 Mid Tower ($85)

Asus Sabertooth Z87 LGA 1150 ($235)

Intel Core i7-4770K ($340)

EVGA GeForce GTX780 SuperClocked w/EVGA ACX Cooler 3GB GDDR5 384bit ($660)

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL9 @1.5V UDIMM 240-Pin Memory ($115)

Corsair H100i ($110)

Windows 7 64 bit ($90)

Cheap DVD burner ($20)

Any tips would be appreciated. I want to future proof this baby and eventually add another gtx 780. I'd like to get into over clocking in the future, nothing crazy. This is a gaming rig all the way. I only use one monitor. I like the fan control and size of this case and I've seen a few youtube videos where they can get the h100i in there with no issues. I thought about the Blackhawk Ultra but it's huge.

Anyone have a similar setup? Should I go with a bigger case? is 1000w enough if I want to add another GPU in the future? I think I'm getting close but I don't have any friends who have experience with this stuff.

Thanks in advance

Edit: I should mention that all of this stuff will be ordered on Amazon for the free 2 day prime shipping and no sales tax. And really, all of the amazon prices are usually a little better or at least the same as newegg.

Couple of things, Mobo is expensive if you are just looking to overclock a bit. Well even if you aren't with haswell a cheaper (around the 160-180 range) would be all that you need. You will hit the limits of that proc before you hit the limits of the board.

Could save a bit of money by getting something like a 212 EVO, those perform very well for the price. If you want a predone water cooler for looks or just to say you have one, fine.

Also I didn't include a CPU cooler because I think you should get a custom water cooler for a rig this big ;).

Also if you can raise your budget I would look into a corsair windowed full desktop/tower case

It isn't, infact it is the only gaming mobo that supports 4 way sli in his price range. ( Gigabyte GTX 780s take up two slots each)

All cards take up 2 slots..... But that mobo is the only mobo that supports 4 way sli? All mobos support 4 way sli if its 2 690's or somethin right?

I'm almost positive the sabertooth can handle the 780's (if it can handle 2 titans). Also, judging by the spacing between the 1st and second slot, it should fit, right? I'm never going to use more than 2 cards and even that won't be for a long time.

Any mobo can handle 2 way sli.

No it can't It has to physically/electrically support it on various levels.

Thanks a lot! Much appreciated. I think this will work out just fine for me, I only have one monitor. I always wanted a wicked pc for games, I've always had a console

Obviously as long as it has 2 pci-e ports and it has sli/xfire capability then it can. Though it has to be licensed. A single card with two gpus such as the 690 or 7990 isn't considered crossfire/SLi on its own and motherboard support isn't necessary as all that work is done on the PCB by bridge chips. Though some (most) motherboard manufacturers say they support 4x SLi/Xfire when in fact they only have two PCI-e slots.
