Okay so my computer case has a USB 3.0 header in the front, but my motherboard doesn't support USB 3.0. I don't really won't nor need USB 3.0 but I was wondering if I can just use the USB 3.0 cable and put it in the USB 2.0 port on the motherboard? Imma noob.

If in doubt TRY, but I guess not as the usb3 has both usb2 and connectors so 10 lines instead of 5, but if the connector fitts it will proberly work. Most computer parts that fit together, work together.

They're different cables, so probably not, the good news is you can get an adapter like this: http://www.moddiy.com/products/USB-3.0-19%252dPin-Male-...

That's probably what you'd need, then you could use those 3.0 ports as 2.0. Couldn't say for sure without knowing what your case is.

Don't try forcing 3.0>2.0 connection or vice versa, the pins are different size and spacing, you'll hurt something if you do.
