Hello there reader! I made this post to ask a simple question, but before I ask it, let me describe my situation. I am the owner of an ASUS K54C laptop and I have been wanting to upgrade It's i3 2310M intel processor to an i7 3632QM processor. I have already compared them both and they both have the same size and chipset. By the way, my chipset is 988B rPGA. Anyway, I just wanted to confirm if this new processor is compatible with my current laptop. Thank you in advance!

While both processors do use the same socket there is a difference in architecture in that one is FCpga while the other is Ppga - the heat dissipation differs greatly between the two and doubtful the heatsink is designed for both. Offhand I'll say, no, it won't work BUT...
I will suggest you direct this question to Asus since the crux of the question is not, will it physically fit but, is there support for that CPU - there may not be BIOS support for that CPU but you would need to get that info from Asus
