Computer specs before we start:
i7-2600k
ASUS Sabertooth P67 mobo
4x4GB Corsair Vengence RAM 1600
Rosewill Fortress 750W PSU
2xMSI GTX 660 ti

So I bought two MSI 660ti's over the weekend and decided to install them today. I thought it would be a simple install, however, it was just the opposite. Only one card is being detected so I decided to swap them around to see if it's a card issue. After swapping, still only the top card is being detected so I decide to try one at a time.

First, I try the top slot for both cards and they both work. Next, I try the bottom slot for both cards and it does not work. The computer boots up fine, however, I have no monitor input. The only reason I know that the computer boots up fine is because I hear the windows chime through my speakers.

I have searched the internet for problems on my specific motherboard with SLI and found many, but none of them had any solutions as to why it's doing it besides a bad lower PCI express slot. I did come across some where they state to uninstall/install graphic card drivers in an order and such, though that did not work when I tried it. I made sure that ALL drivers are updated, whether it be motherboard or graphic card. There's no detection of the second card at all through the nVidia CP, or through device manager.

Now, I'm just basically thinking it's a bad PCI-e slot on the motherboard and want a few other inputs before I decide to toss down money for a new mobo.

Any comments or ideas are appreciated, thanks.

there's no SLI option in the BIOS settings. Since the second card is not detected, the nvidia control panel does not have the SLI menu enabled either, just the physx part.

Didn't even think of this, thanks for bringing it up. Gonna contact them and see how it goes.

EDIT: looks like this option isn't viable for me as I can't find my motherboard box/warranty card. ugh
what's a good motherboard I should be looking for as a replacement? I don't see many P67 around and just Z77's so I'm guessing P67 is outdated now.

well, now that I have the new motherboard (Extreme 4) installed, I'm hitting some more problems. Applications/drivers no longer install unless it's in safe mode and get hung up at about a little over half on the bar. This leads me to believe it's a driver issue, I need a place to start looking. I've deleted my old motherboard drivers with Revo uninstaller so hopefully it's not that.

Also, my computer doesn't shut off when I click shut off. The windows shut off screen appears and then my monitor turns off like it's shutting down the computer, but the computer and fans are still on. I've read that it's an SLI issue but I have the latest drivers and have no idea why it's still doing it.

Any ideas?

Did you check to see if you have the first PCIe slot set to either x16 or x8 in the BIOS? Because it may be that when the first slot is set to x16, the MB disables the other one.
