I am looking to upgrade my standard HP h8 1375ea Pc it came inbuilt with the standard gt 640 and found that it is not meeting my gaming and work requirements, if anyone could recommend a drastically better GPU that would be great i would preferably like one that could run games like battlefield 3 and upcoming battlefield 4 at a reasonably high fps. I would idealyl like to spend no more than £150, i also need to upgrade my psu from the standard 450w so if anyone could recommend a cheap, powerful and reliable one then it would great. Also anyone ideas on how to cool the machine down if the GPU adds drastic amounts of heat.

Thanks.

7870 cost <$200 i believe (not sure, check it). it is a good card, but it won't be playing bf4 at max settings, maybe medium with some high (to maintain >40fps)

if the budget includes the psu also, then i dont know, maybe a 7770, but that is of course slower than the 7870 by a good margin

Budget does not include PSU what i will do is sell of the gt 640 and the money i make off it will pay for the PSU it self will only mae something like £40 but still better than nothing

if nvidia decides to keep their naming convention, and if you want to play games with decent performance. stick with the x60 and above, like a 560, 660, 760 and so on.
just make sure your psu can handle it. but a good 600w is plenty for the usual setup

I got 450w currently and that is pushing seeing as i added another hard drive to back up university work, i mainly need the graphics card for molecular modelling which means has to be alot better than what i am currently using wont the graphics card i am buying determine the PSU upgrade i need?
