Currently i'm scanning with MSE on safe mode but from time to time the windows explorer crashes but the MSE scan isn't crashing and still proceeding in the scanning process.

I've tried sfc /scannow but it stucks at 44%

Right now i'm waiting for MSE to finish if its the cause is a virus/malware.

Any suggestion if it isn't a virus/malware?

I need help!

I haven't tried CHKDSK and System Restore yet cuz i can't even right click My Computer cuz of the WINDOWS EXPLORER crashing.

Solution

files will be ok...but at this point i would urgently start backing up first...

FIRST! boot up and do a system restore to a point where that didnt happen, google system restore Windows 7 for instructions.

press ctrl+alt+delete, somewhere there click on start new process type in explorer.exe. (remember from Windows XP)

and first off...MSE is so bad...... download Avast free home edition, its currently number one in the world.

Its most likely a virus, scan without internet and for some hardcore action absolutly try Combofix.
Its a strong scanner that removes harmfull software etc, this requires internet though, after that throw in CCleaner.

If all fails insert a windows CD and start repairing Windows.

I'm using MSE + Malwarebytes + CCleaner i'm just waiting for MSE to finish.

I can't even browse the internet because of the WINDOWS EXPLORER crashing + i'm on SAFE MODE and i'm using another PC.

Though i haven't tried "System Restore."

Note: I still don't know the PROBLEM causing this - Just by clicking the START BUTTON the WINDOWS EXPLORER crashes/restart.

Dont scan with internet connection on (unplug it or pick safe mode without networking capability).

Else do my last step and put in Windows CD and do a repair.

I've been in SAFE MODE only, quite in a while now (I'm using my other PC for this).

Repair doesn't affect my files right?

files will be ok...but at this point i would urgently start backing up first before you get a worse case scenario.
