i used to have a seagate 160 gb hard disk only with no problems at all windows 8 installed , 1 week ago i purchased the wd green wd10eads 1tb and made it my main os and unplugged the seagate one because i cant reach the sata power cable together for the 3 (dvd drive, seagate and wd) but after 1 week i started having problems by getting black screen after windows loading and its happening everytime i format my hard drive, so i decided to put the seagate hdd back as a substitute for the dvd drive and make the wd my secondary hard drive , things are well now but, everytime i start windows its scanning and repairing the wd hard drive and sometimes its taking forever

Solution

Sorry, I saw where you said you put the seagtae back, but I thought you reversed course again. If the WD has that many corrupt files on it that it needs to run chkdsk, than cloning isn't a viable option. You may just need to reformat it or...

You shouldn't use a green drive as your OS drive as it will constantly try to spin down in order to conserver power. Since the OS is heavily used, it's constanlty having to spin up the drive in order to use it. Green drives are better used as storage drives.

What should I do now please help ?

Use your seagate drive with the OS, or clone your green drive to another drive, or reinstall windows on a non-green drive.

Once youve done that, copy any necessary files from the green drive onto another drive and reformat the green drive. You can then copy the files back onto it.
