Hello All,

I have Quad core 2.5 GHz 8300i CPU
Motherboard is Asus p5qpl-am
Ram is 4 GB
SMPS with 550 watt supply
20" inch monitor synchmaster 2033 LCD
I have 9800GT 1 GB running on the system,

Issue is that Monitor goes on/off showing digital/analog selection screen just like when it comes turning on the monitor manually, checked with alternate cable, power supply issue is there, alternate monitor works perfect with this cpu, please suggest the solution is it capacitors ?or picture tube i mean TFT/LCD. Wha will be cost of repairing it.

Many thanks in advance for all the suggestions

Regards
Gaurav

If the backlit isn't faint or dim, the inverter should be ok. That leaves to bad capacitors. But I am not sure. I can't tell without looking at it. If you know how to disassemble a LCD monitor, then disassemble it, and look for bulge or exploding capacitors( this is usually the sign of bad caps). If you see this than its the caps, replacing will be cheap, but it depends on the local tech how much he will charge you. BTW the IC could be broken too on the power supply board of the monitor. Or some resistors or diode's too. Anyway try to read the size of caps e.g. (1000uf, 50V, 105C), and search it on local market e.g.(Chandni). And if you are brave enough and have some knowledge of electronics, and have a shouldering iron with some basic...

Caps have polarities +/- so be careful, if you wants to do it yourself. Good luck.
