Your question

reboot and select proper boot device...but a weird one!

September 10, 2013 5:53:49 AM

Ok, so after trawling plenty of sites to try to find an answer to this I thought I'd come to the experts.

I am getting the "reboot and select proper boot device" message on booting my Windows7 Laptop. It started doing this very randomly and had no reason to do so.

I have done the usual, including fixmbr etc and also reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 (losing all my precious data in the meantime)

So what makes this any different? Well, if I resume to Windows from hibernate or boot from off I get this message however from both these situations, if I press F2 while booting, enter the BIOS and touch NOTHING but F10 to save and reboot it then boots perfectly into a running and happy Windows 7.

Someone please help me before I lose the plot! I'm sure it must be a simple fix.

Thanks in advance!
Thom
