So I've been deciding between these two RAM sticks for a while now, and was really considering the Ripjaws, but when I saw that the Vengeance is a Shell Shocker on Newegg today, it really got me thinking. Here are the two sticks:

http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx?cm_sp=ShellShocker-_-20-233-580-_-09102013_1

So the Vengeance is now $50 with a rebate and the Ripjaws are $62 with a rebate. I've heard dual-channel is a bit better, which leans me toward the Ripjaws, but some have said that it isn't a noticeable difference. The reason I'm going for 1866 Mhz is because I will be getting the AMD FX-8320, which 1866 is the sweet spot for AMD CPUs. I will be primarily using this computer for gaming and game developing(programming). So my question is, should I pay the extra $12 and get the dual-channel Ripjaws, or pay the cheaper and get the single-channel Vengeance, which I would most likely upgrade to 16GB in the future? If you have another suggestion entirely, please feel free to.

My setup isn't exactly solid, since I'm technically rebuilding my entire computer, but here are the parts I'm looking to get:

AMD FX-8320
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AMD 970 mobo
AMD ASUS 6670 1GB GDDR5 (will upgrade later)
WD Caviar Black 500GB
500W Cooler Master power supply

P.S. I notice the Latency and Timings are a lot different, will this make a noticeable difference as well?

Solution
The latency is ALLOT better on the ripjaws, you can also buy a Vengeance with lower latency.

I have CL9 for example and it works op 9-9-9-24, the higher the speed and lower the latency the better it will perform.

I personally find it worth the extra 10 sinds your rig will last a bit wont it? so what is 10 dollars over a life span of 5 years!

hope that clears your mind.

Wait. Let's start this from scratch, your choice in components is a little sketchy.... NO to that CM PSU, theyre mostly junk.

The HD6670 is so useless you may as well get an HD7730 GDDR5 for like 3$ more.

Now WHY would you want the FX8320? The 6300 is just as capable and should cost less, which allows you to get a more reliable PSU.

What is your FULL budget?
What will you be doing with this computer? What games EXACTLY?

I know the 6670 isn't that great, but I already bought it and have been using it for 6-7 months or so, like I said, I'm upgrading later. I'm focusing on everything but the card right now. But my budget for just Mobo, CPU, and RAM is around $300. I have been considering the cheaper 6350, but I'm not sure if the two less cores would make that much of a difference. I'm getting mixed signals from multiple sources. And the PSU I also have at the moment, since I got it for $25 from my brother's 1 year old rig that he ended up having to sell. The games that I'm planning on playing are all the new next-gen games. Titanfall, Destiny, GTA V, AC4, etc. I know, it's high hopes for a 6670, but I'm upgrading my graphics card later, probably around Christmas, so no need to worry about that yet.
