Hp p6 2321es CPU upgrade

I have a hp p6 2321es using an AMD A4-5300 on a FM2 Jasmine 7778 (HP's mobo). I want to upgrade the processor, at least an Intel i5. I have a 250€ budget for the processor (and the new motherboard). My PSU gives 600W and I'd like to keep the original case. What can I do with that budget? I looking for occasional gaming (Rome 2, Battlefield 4 etc..) and, over all, AutoCad 3D design.

HP states it is an upgrade to your motherboard. Some might not like the higher wattage of the 5800k. Since you are unable to overclock, the 5700 would work fine. You will be able to transfer components of your current case to a new case. Currently an i7 doesn't offer much over an i5 in games in a select few that take advantage of more than 4 threads. FX 8320 is another good option for the $$ and will allow you to spend more on a better GPU than you could get with an Intel rig for the same amount of $$.

Chances are it will not work with that case without doing some wiring work. OEM's tend to put proprietary motherboard connectors for the front panel switches. There are adapters and ways around it, but it is just easier to get a different case.

Your cpu can be upgraded to an A8 5600k or A10 5700/5800k. That and a new gpu would be your best option for the money.

I thought about the A10 5800k before but some people reported compatibility problems with those processors using my motherboard model (jasmine 7778). I think I will follow you're advice and save some money for a new case. Will I be able to use the DvD reader and the wifi card on the new mobo? Is it worth the extra money for a i7 or the i5 would gave me the same performance while gaming?
