oops..i mis read.... i mean get a 7870 instead of 7850..

That just isn't true. If that was true, all the gaming rigs in the members gallery would have sound cards. A sound card costing less than $50 is not better than a motherboards integrated sound. This $50 can be MUCH better spent on other parts of the rig in a rig that costs less than $1000.

depends...
First, it is true, that any speakers/headphones suffer greatly if plugged into integrated sound. And yes, you hear the difference clearly with cheap Koss PortaPro headphones.
Second, it is also true, that even a cheapo $50 Xonar DS /all rounder/ or Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer /gaming beast/ beats all onboard sound by a mile.

About spending $50 for a sound card or beefing up the specs... Well, let's agree to disagree...
The games/movies as I see them come in a whole package including video and audio. So while I think it is pointless to have a discrete sound card in a <$500 machine; it makes sense to consider it when nearing the $1000 mark, and it is necessary to include a decent one if one goes over it. That is just my five cents :D

PS: having a decent sound can get you banned easily /coz most of the kids are sorry losers :D/ as you can hear anything clearly across the whole map. So you'll be having a massive edge over any idiot that dares to come your way :D
