I have an ASUS Z87 PRO mobo that has quite the array of options for modifying things. It has TPU (Turbo Processing Unit) and EPU (Energy Processing Unit) switches on the mobo itself to adjust the CPU Ratio / clock speed and power consumption respectively.

I guess what isn't clear to me is if this replaces any overclocking I would do in the BIOS? If someone else has experience with this specific board or one like it I'd love any suggestions.

Thanks!

The TPU is basically automatic overclocking, overriding any setting you have in BIOS. This is good if you want a simple and pain free overclock.
I always prefer to manually overclock in the BIOS to get the most out of the CPU. If you are new to overclocking, there are lots of online resources to help.

Also, be sure you have an aftermarket heatsink if you do any kind of overclocking.
