Not really except I like Sapphire if one is not cheaper, both are trusted brands.

don't wanna overclock them.coil whine and temps i'm interested in.performance they are kinda the same if i am correct

Basically same answer, if you cant select between them on price then looks because neither will let you down.

any ideea if the 7970 is longer then the 7870?

Normally they are and the Gigabyte extra long. If you are limited on length in your case they usually post the size in the specs of the cards.

I've had a Gigabyte 7970 GHz card and recently switched to an ASUS ROG 7970 Matrix Platinum. The ASUS is better in every way, performance, temperature, quietness. If an ASUS card is within you budget I'd defiantly recommend it! If it HAS to be Gigabyte or Sapphire I'd go Sapphire. They seem to provide better cooling and sturdier cards.
