Hi guys Im building a desktop and I need WI-FI. I really dont want the clunky thing sticking out. I reasearched a bit and I want something thats like the adapter in a laptop but one that fits a desktop. Or if it does please tell me it does in the comment section below. Thx in advance.

The beauty of a laptop is that they just put the antennae in the screen bezel, so it's still got good reception without you seeing the antennae...a desktop is a big metal box that isn't very condusive that that kind of thing, there's a reason desktop adapters have massive antennae, because they have to have them somewhere, and anywhere inside will kill your signal strength. A little USB adapter as shown ^ will work but get you pretty dismal speeds and signal strength if you're very far from your router.

WiFi is essentially 'radio'. Radio requires an antenna of some sort. Also, it has to be on the outside of the PC case.

Is this small enough for you?

the antenna sticks out the back, if you can't stand that, then how can you stand a monitor cable or a keyboard plugged in. As said above, the usb ones suck for any distance. the reason for an antenna is to get a decent signal. Every try to watch old tv with and without an antenna? was not fun without.
