Does amd fx cpu loose performance with time. Many say its circuitry has high error rates and prone to degrade with time. Is it true. Also many users say there is decrease in performace as processor heats up.

i still have a couple old CPU's that are still running - Core 2 duo e6600 @3.3ghz still running as my HTPC, an athlon 64 3500 and an old pentium mmx kicking around somewhere. They all still work, performance is the same as the day they were made. Performance does not degrade over time. I'm sure the electronics inside may eventually fail, but it would take many many many years, or some really harsh punishment. There is still plenty of electronic equipment and computers from the 1970's and prior still functioning perfectly well. There is still plenty of electronic equipment and computers from the 1970's and prior still functioning perfectly well. If anything will wear out in the 5 year effective lifespan of a PC, it will be the capacitors in the PSU and/or motherboard, or possibly micro-cracks in solder due to constant heating and cooling. Of course any component can fail due to many factors, but i would say it would unlikely be CPU wear and tear, this is normally only the case for moving components. I have yet to hear of any cases of AMD FX cpu failures, and have yet to experience ANY cpu failure for myself. There is only once case i have ever seen a cpu fail, and it was a DOA intel Celeron back when i was working for a PC manufacturer, which had a short circuit causing the machine not to power on.
