Most monitors do not support DVI-A (analog signal over DVI) signal.
Therefore, a cheap $5 adapter will not work.
You can buy a VGA-to-DVI converter, but it is not cheap.
Consider buying a USB-to-DVI adapter. They are much cheaper at around 50 dollars.
