Hi,
I just bought a used AMD phenom 9550hd with gigabyte mobo at throw away price. I wanted to know what games I can play with the following specification:-

CPU- Phenom 9550d Quad 2.2
Ram- 2gb DDR2 667mhz
Mobo- Gigabyte (can't recall the specification)
Video- Radeon 6450 1gb

My interest is NFS Shift and Carbon, COD MW3, Assassins Creed 2, Dirt 2 and the likes.

Okay, I get your point. But the reason it was bought was not exclusively for gaming, it was bought keeping in mind basic usage such as ms office, internet and movies.

I just wanted to know if I can play those games listed on any settings. Trying to get some more from that cpu.

Thanks

The CPU is not so bad, nowdays game engines can use multicores way better and my 2,3 Ghz 9500 (OC'd) outperforms my previous 2,8 Ghz Athlon X2. The RAM should be 800 Mhz for that CPU thou, and your graphics card is really slow. With a decent graphics card I think you can run those games using lower resolutions like 1024-1280.

Thanks all. What should be a decent graphic for this cpu? I would like to spend on something that I can retain once I wish to upgrade my CPU.

I was running NFS shift very comfortably on medium resolution with 2 AA. However today it crashes with the following error.

I tried running on default settings it still crashes. I reinstalled Physx but it did not help. It crashes just before the start of race.

What graphics card to get depends on what you want to spend, a real good one will last you longer, although the phenom cpu will bottleneck it. I guess a X7XX or a X8XX Radeon is preferably matched with the CPU, while a X9XX radeon is bottlenecked. Geforce ?
