Error in Outlook with imap account

Now, what error are you getting? Who is you internet / email suppler?
Did you follow outlook guide or your supplier guide to configure the imap account?

Here is the error message:I have recently changed my charter account "whitwill@charter.net" from pop3 to imap. Now my computer will not receive new email although outgoing OK. Receive following: Task: Synchronizing Folders for whitwill@charter.net reported error (0x800CCC0E: Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for whitwill@chaqrter.net. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue… etc.
I changed the account type from POP3 to IMAP as I was getting a conflict with my iPhone and new laptop. I was advised to change the account type in Internet Email Settings from POP3 to IMAP. This created the above error message and I was unable to receive new email. However, I just changed the settings back to account type POP3 (imap.charter.net smtp.charter.net) from account type IMAP (imap.charter.net smtp.charter.net) and now several hundred emails have com into my Personal Folders again. I don't seem to have the conflict with my iPhone on and the laptop accessing Charter at the moment, but perhaps it only conflicts when the iPhone is accessing my charter account at the same time I am sending email out on my laptop. We shall see. If that conflict continues, I will ask advice here. Thank you for you prompt response.
