Mother board repair?

Hi members.

I have a motherboard that is not working 100% (ECS H55H-M)
The on board sound gets detected by windows but there is no signal going out to the speakers.(not a driver problem)
It also seem that the one PCI slot is not working as I wanted to fit a PCI sound card.

What I would like to know is where to look on the motherboard to find the culprit.

Why would the PCI slot and the on board sound not work? I do not know how motherboards are laid out. Example what power circuit powers what?
Is there an relation between PCI slot and on board sound power source?

On what pin on the PCI slot can I check for correct voltage?

I am hoping for a simple leaking or shorted transistor :D
Or maybe a toss in the wind and just re-flow the whole board :-/

And if I can not repair the problem what are the chances that the PCI-Ex1 slots will work? Do they share power with the PCI and sound? I do not want to buy an expensive sound card just to test the PCI-Ex1. The x16 is working.

Oh and the on board vga is artifacting. Gives me little hope to re-flow :)

Many thanks :)

No one wants to repair motherboards. I doubt that you could even get a scematic for one. And the repair cost would be far more than that of a new motherbord. Just buy a replacement.

Thanks for the replies guys :)
The motherboard is long gone out of warranty :(
I will check the obvious transistors then. And yes doubt I will get an schematic.
If I can do the repair, parts will be a few cents.
1156 motherboards are very scares this side of the world. Replacement board costs as much as a basic pc :(

Hi members. I have tested all the transistors, micro SMD caps/resistors/diodes.
Could not find a problem :(
I can not test any of the ICs because I can not find the data sheets(slightly obvious)
So what I did was I bought a cheap USB sound adaptor. And it works.
To make it nice and neat I am going to solder it into the on-board sound plug and the on-board USB :)

For the price and time to mod the USB sound adaptor its much more worth it than to do deep digging into the motherboard.

Thanks again :)
