I accidentally deleted eveything from my computer, while trying to uninstall norton. Windows went along with it. Now I cannot get a hold of windows installation media, because it has to be the one that Toshiba uses on its laptops. Does anyone know how to solve this? Microsoft is going to send me my activation key, but I`ll still need something to install... like a cd or something.

If you haven't destroyed the Toshiba restore partition.

Toshiba laptops from mid-2007 onwards don't have a recovery disc supplied with the laptop. Instead, Toshiba has added a hidden partition on the hard drive which contains the same files as a recovery CD/DVD.

To restore your laptop to its factory settings, follow these steps:

Warning: All data on the hard drive will be erased. Back up any important data before proceeding. Make sure the computer is connected to a power supply and do not switch it off or restart during the process.

1) Hold down the power button for ten seconds to switch off your machine
Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.
2) Press and hold the zero key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook
3) When the machine starts beeping, release the zero key
4) When prompted by the warning screen, select Yes to continue with the system recovery
5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software and click Next
6) Select Recover to out-of-box state and Click Next again
7) Click Next to Start the recovery

If this works, make sure you create a set of recovery DVD's once you back in Windows 8.

You should be able to install any copy of Windows 8 to your computer as long as it's the same version as you had before. eg. Windows 8 Home Premium 64 bit. You don't need the product key to install Windows but you will need it after. Once installed, you can go to Toshiba's website to download any drivers you may need. You can also get all of Toshiba's software there. Do you have a friend you could borrow a disk from? You can also download Windows 8 from some of the peer to peer websites although if you are not aware of the risks involved with these sites, I don't reccommend you use them.

you should have a product key (it might be in your BIOS) get a copy of the OS directly from Microsoft
or another trusted source.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-8/upgrade-pr...
run the installer and make a CD image or usb image
you will also want to pick up any special drivers you need from your oem

If you have access to another machine using the same architecture (32/64 bit) as your Toshiba, once you have your Product Key you will be able to d'load W8 ISO from here
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=271128
then either burn to disk or create a bootable USB drive
