I just borrowed GTX 280 to replace my GTS 450 for 2-3months until i get new card, so im interested if i should use GTS 450 as dedicated PhysX card and is my PSU (Thermaltake SPS-630M) good enough ?

Rest of my specs are:
FX-6300 @4.00 GHz
Coolermaster Hyper 212evo
MSI 970a-g46
Patriot Viper3 black mamba 2x4Gb 1866 MHz
Hitachi 500GB sata 2 HDD (old one from previous build)
Samsung 840pro 128gb SSD
Thermaltake versa II case

I also have spare 9500GT

The 2 cards are in the 11th and 12th tier respectively.....

I could see using either one of them as a PhysX card with say a 760.

GTX 260 specs http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-260/specifications
GTS 450 specs http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gts-450/specifications

Your system with the 260 requires 550 watts; the 450 adds 106 watts according to the above link....so nVidia says 656 watts.

No, your best setup is going to be the GTS 450 as your primary card, since it's capable of DirectX 11, then the 260 as your PhysX card.

These charts will give you a rough idea of the performance gain.

I have GTX 280 not 260

It is easy to throw up charts but I have owned two gtx 280 and a gtx460, a stock 280 is only 5% slower than a stock 460 in most games which would put the 280 above any typical 450. As for dedicated physx the 450 is good but in the long run you can do better for the main card unless you are very dependent on openGL apps as the old gtx200 line was as good as it gets.

I will be upgrading hopefully by the end of the year and i was thinking about HD7950 or GTX 760 Hawk(maybe something from HD9xxx). Ok so GTS 450 is good for physx, but is my PSU enough ? both GPUs are at stock clocks so they should draw max 236 and 106w. Only problem is ill have to use dual molex to 6-pin adapter for 450 power.
