GTX 660 ti SLI vs GTX 760 SLI

Hey guys,

Before I start, I just want to say that I have everything needed for SLI, please don't say 'PSU blah blah, MB blah blah' I know about everything and just want to know about this, thanks.

Ok, I want to get one of these two cards in SLI. The only problem is, there's a price difference in the UK of £20 exactly. I am wondering if that £20 is worth paying for the 760 or if I should just stay with the 660 TI SLI as I prefer to stay cheaper. How many FPS differences will the 760 SLI and 660 ti SLI have? Is it really worth the £20=$30-$35 more money? Please, a solid answer is really needed as I'm on the last step of purchasing two of a specific card. Please, help now would be appreciated guys :D!

At you current resolution (1920x1080 if I remember from the previous post), the 660Ti's would be fine. Are you running a 120Hz monitor or doing the lightboost thing? Another thing is, if you ever upgrade your monitor (to say 1440p or 5760x1080) in the future, the 760's would be better. (probably 5 - 10 frames higher). I would go with the 760's.

I would still recommend a single card now and an extra card later. If you got a 770 or even a 780, you could get more than fantastic performance then SLI later when you need/want to. This means you get all the performance you need when you need it, while leaving some money in the bank for later/other things. Also as you probably know, there can be difficulties with SLI, so people tend to stay...

For SLI I would go with the ASUS hands down. I RMA'd an EVGA 660 with the stock cooler due to high running temps. I then went to the ASUS Card, it runs 20c cooler than the EVGA did. So I bought another ASUS 660 and ran those in SLI for a month or so. The top card in the SLI set up maxed out at 73c which was 10c cooler than the single EVGA.
Of course the 760's will be faster but enough to justify the price I don't think so.
For the record I ditched the 660 sli in favor of a single GTX 680 also the ASUS model. Overall the single 680 is a better experience, but I do miss the SLI set up on some games.

I have a second 670 arriving soon, as I find that a single GTX 670 can't sustain 60FPS max graphics @ 1440p for a few of my games (Crysis 1&2, modded Skyrim, Planetside 2 as a few). It was cheaper to get this than upgrade to a 770 or 780 and I don't see much benefit from a 7970 as the 670 can do almost as well in some games. (Gigabyte GTX 670 OC $402 NZD or £210ish which is an absolute steal in New Zealand as lots of things here are expensive.) My personal example of one now one later :p

To be honest, I'm not really bothered about the 5-10fps difference since the GTX 660 ti in SLI is better than the Titan! That's what I love! When I hear that, I really couldn't mind about the fps difference. Also, you recall right. I will be running at 1080p so I will be expecting great FPS! I really love your recommendations but I know I won't upgrade my PC any time soon as the next time I do, I will start from scratch with another £1000 budget! I think your two 670's is amazing! I really think that you will get amazing FPS at any game and your doing the right thing :D! Good luck with your SLI and thanks for the amazing replies... Once again :)!

I see! I will definitely go with the Asus GTX 660 TI then in SLI! I appreciate that as I would really love to keep it as cool as possible as I don't want my PC to be overly hot... Thanks a lot for your advice and I'll take it on board!

Galaxy also has a better cooler than EVGA, and there's a deal on one right now at TigerDirect, $199.99 after coupon MIR and it comes with Batman: Arkham Origins.

In fact, any of the big 3 (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte) and most other vendors as well have better coolers than EVGA. What EVGA gets by on is word of mouth, overvolting tools (for extreme overclocking) and a relatively tolerant RMA policy

I have a Galaxy 660 Ti myself and it overclocks to be more powerful than many 760s and even 670s. I'm sure you will be pleased with SLI 660 Ti.

Nevertheless, at this point I would recommend 760 SLI if I were buying new cards today, preferably 4gb. Of course, you will have to pay for such as well
