Problem with the RAM slots on my Asrock Z77 Extreme 4.

So I'm having the error codes 55 and 53.

Which basically means my ram slots are fucked or their is either something wrong with my cpu pins or something else.

55 means that memory not installed and I get 53 when I take all of my memory out of my comp.

Now I did just get done installing my H100i CPU cooler and I believe it works just fine but when i turned my comp on from this, this error code showed up.

I've tried everything everyone tried in this thread: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170736

None of my slots work with my ram, I don't think there is anything wrong with my ram itself, and I didn't see any bent CPU pins, but I do get an error code A2 when I put the ram in either the B1 or B2 slot.

Which means IDE Detect.

Error 55 from A1 and A2 (Slots)

Thanks if you have any ideas please post.

That video won't help me at all but thanks, and thats how I had my memory in the very beginning but when I turned it back on the error 55 popped up.

I think I may just have bad memory slots...and need a new mobo..

I'm gonna check my cpu for bad pins again..

Well it would be helpful if ya had em wrong slots :) ... I had no way of knowing.

Again, memory errors can be caused by things other than memory.....

What did Asrock say when ya called ?.... new MoBo, you shud get TS. It does seem odd that, if I understand ya original post correctly, thay ya just installed a new cooler .... was it working before on an old cooler or is this a new build ?

I didn't call Asrock yet... The mobo isn't new, I've had it for 9 months. The build isn't new, also 9 months old. Yes it worked perfectly right before switching the coolers, I am checking the socket pins right now and I can't see any that are bent wrong. But I'm pretty sure my current cooler is working just fine.

I have twice seen cooler replacements cause the problems you describe just recently. In both cases it was installation. In 1st case I could clearly see scoring on the MoBo surface from over tightening ... in the 2nd case, I suspect over tightening may have warped the board and or damaged CPU and or socket....couldn't see evidence of it outright ..... Coolers with mounts that you can adjust pressure present this possibility

______________V________________
x................................................x

Force applied at "V" is resisted by supports at x and bending can result in the short distance between if to much pressure applied.

Hmm I don't think i overtightened my cooler...

Heres a somewhat crappy 1 min video of my CPU sockets, if you dont mind, can you take a look and see if you see any bent pins, i didnt see any.

I just contacted Asrock's Tech support about this problem and I'm gonna see if i can get a replace ment board.

Thanks for your help so far, but I have managed to get my pc fully working kind of. The first two slots on my mobo for my RAM are toast, only B1 and B2 work, so... I have managed to get my pc fully working except for Slot A1 and A2...

I don't really want to consider this solved yet, as those slots aren't working still so i'll wait and see if anyone posts any other info and we'll see from there.

Thanks again.

And I'm guessing the only way to get this fixed is to send in my mobo to asrock?

Thanks for your help, I will probably just say screw it and buy some 8 x 2GB RAM and forget about the other two slots.
