hey guys,
i would like to ask that is it a big problem if i am using the second pci expres slot not the first one.It was written on the mainboard that it is still pcie 16x.
When i was in the BIOS i noticed that a small chip temperature was at 40Celsius while the cpu and the motherboard was around 28. I am worried that if i will use my evga gtx 780 sc gpu in that slot i could overheat that small chip. The reason why i ammsticked with the second pcie slot is.Tha i have core i7 4770k cpu with a noctua nh d-14 air cooling. And if i am willing to put the gfx card to the first slot it will touch my gpu.
Thank you for your kind help.

See page 1-20 of your MoBo manual for which PCIE configurations are supported. I don't use the SC cards from EVGA, is there something unusual in the card thickness ?

Is your Noctua DH-14 properly mounted ? I know that most cooler manufacturers want their fans blowing front to rear but most of the pics I have seen for the noc have it blowing up ?

well the page says that PCIe 3.0/2.0_x16_A2 operating mode is 3way and 4 way SLI x16.

returning to the noctua the only problem is that passive cooling should touch the gpus back side. and i am affraid that it could make some electrical short circuit to the card.

So you have 2 or 3 other cards plugged in ?

Believe me I feel ya frustration.... I had a ALC rear case mount 120mm radiator hit the GFX circuit board on an Asus WS build. Wouldn't recognize card in 2nd slot tho.

But if ya have only 1 or 2 GFX cards, the Formula might fit ya needs better.
