Both are good mobos, prob happy with either, of the two I'd lean towards the Rock, have had more request for builds with their mobos than for GigaByte, Asus is by far the number 1 choice

I like the Asus Z87-Plus, from the Haswell builds I've done, it seems Asus has the best handle on Z87/Haswell

Get Asus Maximus VI Hero. Will be good Z87 board for you.

Look at Tradesman1's signature. He is having the same board. ;)

That's what I would normally suggest, the Hero is my favorite, picked after over 20 Haswell builds, but have numerous builds on other mobos also, the Plus seems closest to the pricepoint of the two mentioned

Aaah... if he has strict budget, then Plus will be affordable for him. :)

The Hero is a higher end, better thermal, OCs better, handles DRAM better, finer BIOS controls - designed more for OC and Gaming
