Hello everyone,

In preparation for Battlefield 4, I'm interested in doing some upgrades to improve my load times. I'm interested in spending around $200, but less is always better.

My current specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
Corsair H50
ASrock 970DE3/U3S3
Galaxy GTX 560Ti
4 GB G.Skill 1600MHz w/ Windows 7 32 bit (3.25GB usable)
Samsung 5400RPM 160GB OS drive
Seagate 7200RPM 500GB drive
Xion 1000W

So far I know that my OS drive and my operating system / ram are causing issues for load times. What sort of recommendations do you guys have for the most cost/power effective upgrades to improve load times?

Thanks in advance!

Solution
The OS does mainly small random reads and writes, a task that a SSD excels at. It will do that 50x faster than even the best 10k hard drive.
I would highly suggest that a SSD be used for the os drive. Everything you do will be demonstrably quicker.

If your objective is faster loading of Battlefield, I would install that on the ssd too. A SSD will be 2x faster in sequential operations, 3x faster if it is attached to a 6gb sata port.

120gb is sufficient for the os and a handful of games. I would recommend at least 120gb. With 240gb you can probably install all your games.

In order to get the best possible configuration for an SSD, would be be better to have the SSD just for the OS, and Battlefield on my 7200RPM data drive? Or have both Battlefield and the OS stored on an SSD together?
