I3 (Ivy or haswell) or phenom to work in video processing

I'm looking for a I3 Ivy/haswell or phenom to work in video processing.
Nothing espectacular 'cause I work with virtualdubmod, megui or similar ones, so just the one working best of the three is fine by me.
Just in case, I'm not planning on buying additional video card.

thks in advance.

  1. Definitely the phenom.

The i3 has only 2 cores which makes it an awful contestant for video processing which uses multi-threading and multiple cores.
  2. I am hoping that you are referring to the Phenom II? These once were the amazing processors before the AMD FX line. Unless you are considering and i5 or AMD FX, the Phenom II is a wonderful choice.

Video processing is a hobby of mine.
Not planning to sell a kidney to have something espectacular. Just an i3 equivalent is enough for the next 2 o 3 year working with vdubmod, inserting subtitles, karaokes or encoding movies or anime. So yes, if the phenom is better option than a i3 haswell, fine for me.
This only left one last question... which not too high cost mainboard is good enough to work with this phenom II?

This depends on what budget you are on, and what features you might need.
