Motherboard or CPU dead, need advice.

I recently received an AsRock Extreme4 motherboard and an i7 3770k. I bread-boarded them out of the box for testing but I am unable to get anything out of the motherboard. Upon power-on the fans (CPU heatsink, Graphics card fans and case fans) all whir up for a split second and then stop. No lights on the MB (or DR. Diag) and no beeps.

(I have also run through the 'checklist' that is always posted.)

I RMA'd the motherboard thinking that was the most likely culprit, however the new one also does exactly the same thing. Leading me to believe that the CPU or the PSU are the problem.

MY PSU works fine on my old system (i5 750, asus Motherboard (cant remember model)) and is currently powering my gtx 780 leading me to believe that it is not that, but it still could be.

Any advice/other things I should check?

didnt see u mentioning ur psu on the first post.anyhow,if u happen to have another psu i would give it a go or if u could test the cpu on another system that might help as well.it happens to me once( a long time ago),i just have to press the power button again and again for about 8-10 times just to get it to boot.but in my case it was the cmos batt/bad caps, i just dont remember anymore.but since ur psu is running ur old system,i cant really say ur psu is the culprit.are u really sure all cable are connected?

have u check ur ram if its compatible with ur new mobo.it might also be the culprit.what else did u install on the mobo when trying it out?

sounds like a bad mobo to me.unless u could somehow get the cpu to b tested.that will rule's out what is bad and not.
