I am no longer ableto connect wirelessly. A about a week ago the power went out and we had a problem with the internet which is now fixed but I am now unable to connect wirelessly through my laptop it says there is a problem with the wireless adapter or access point, any help would be much appreciated, Melissa

Solution
1. Click start button and type "device manager" (without quotes) in the search box.
2. Select device manager
3. On the list of devices, look for Network adapters and click.
4. You should have two devices - a PCIe controller (that's the ethernet hub) and a wireless adapter. Right click on the wireless adapter and click uninstall. MAKE A NOTE OF THE NAME/TYPE of wireless adapter. Leave the "remove drivers" box unchecked. This will remove the device from your system.
5. Right click Network adapters and choose scan for new hardware - windows will find your wireless and reinstall the drivers.

Make sure you have any external switch for wifi turned on, and any software switch enabled.

Please post your make and model of...
If you have an ethernet cord, try connecting directly to the modem/router and see if you are getting signal via ethernet. If you can connect using ethernet, shut down your laptop, unplug the power from the router, wait 30 seconds, re-power the router and wait until it stabilizes (no flashing lights - should take 1-2 minutes), remove ethernet connection, reboot laptop and see if you can get on the web.

If you do not have the ethernet cord, start at "shut down your laptop".

Thanks for the reply, I can connect using the Ethernet cable its the only way to connect using my laptop just now. I can connect to the wifi using my phone so I am pretty sure it must be a problem with the laptop and not the router, sorry for delayed reply not on much with this problem.

Thanks, Melissa
